The holidays are usually linked to cold weather and cozy sweaters, and even though Phoenix is in a sunny state, the holidays are just as merry as it is everywhere else. The fact is that there’s so much to do in Phoenix from mid-November through the end of December. Check out a list of our top 5 family-friendly holiday events that will give you and your family lots of fun in Phoenix during the holidays.

  1. Christmas at the Princess

Since 2010, the Princess Resort has been welcoming the Holiday Season with its themed “Christmas at the Princess.” Every year the celebration gets larger and better. It’s an event of massive proportions for all ages with something for everyone. This year the Petting Zoo and a Christmas campfire have been added to the lineup.

Christmas at the Princess will help you and your family create magical memories now through January 3, 2016. Skating on real ice in the center of the desert feels like real magic at the Scottsdale Princess. A Desert Ice Skating Rink creates a pictorial scene perfect for the holidays, and the rink is a great place to start kids off on how to ice skate, or to revisit your childhood memories of gliding across the ice.

  1. The Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees took place this year from November 23 to December 1, 2015, on the lower level of Scottsdale Fashion Square just in front of Dillards & Neiman Marcus. At this extraordinary occasion, professionally gorgeously decorated trees were on display and available for bidding during the event.

  1. The ZooLights

Every year the Phoenix Zoo puts up an astonishing holiday show of lights. The event is called the ZooLights, and it is open every evening for six weeks during the holiday season. Starting in late November to early January. The ZooLights take four people around 14 weeks to setup, and they start working as early as July to get it ready for opening day.

  1. The Arizona Biltmore

Enjoy the holiday season at the Arizona Biltmore with an outdoor ice skating rink. ┬áIt is located on the Squaw Peak Lawn which will usually be spotted with holiday lights and enclosed by majestic mountain vistas. Starting from Thanksgiving to January 3rd. Adults and children will have the chance to roll up their sleeves and get messy with candies, frosting, sprinkles, and much more while working with the famous cookie decorating expert herself – Mrs. Claus!

Revel in the magnificent and vibrant history of the Arizona Biltmore, one of the only luxury hotels in the world influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Biltmore was designed by Albert Chase McArthur, who had studied under Frank Lloyd Wright. For a brief period, Wright was hired as a consulting architect.

  1. The Santa Train

Frank and Dianne Polimene’s family tradition goes back over 37 years. Guests ride a homemade 1/6 scale Santa train as it travels over the track, activating some features as it moves on the trail: an erupting volcano, a crossing gate, light bridge, Ferris wheel, candy cane factory and dispenser, and carousel. Free candy canes are given to all young guests through one of the cars. Other performance features comprise of an animated dancing and singing Santa scene with interactive pop-up figures. They also have a snowflakes show and cosmic color tree.
