The Dairy Dilemma

Dairy

When a new patient comes to Above & Beyond Acupuncture for treatment, one of the most important behaviors discussed is diet and nutrition.  Food can either be of great help or of great detriment to a person’s health.  One specific food we examine is the consumption of dairy, whether that is in the form of milk, cheese or yogurt.

Growing up many of us were told that “milk does a body good” and that “milk builds strong bones”, but those tag lines have proven to be false when held up to scientific analysis.  It turns out that those sayings were more propaganda than truth, which leads us to wonder why the dairy industry would be allowed to sell a product that is being falsely advertised.

Mark Hyman, MD wrote a comprehensive article that discusses the many fallacies and facts about dairy.  If you get a moment please check it out: [Link]

Personally speaking, I have done my best to try and eliminate dairy from my diet and I implore the public to join me.  There are plenty of alternatives these days that are tasty and nutritious.  It can take some effort and commitment but it is a worthy endeavor.
